diplomverteidigung, erstmaliges screening auf leinwand von meinem diplomkurzfilm "wir sagen miteinander schlafen und meinen miteinander ganz wach sein", am donnerstag 27.04 um 18.30 im lichthaus kino in weimar. hinkommen.

anschließend grilllen oder so im kfz. carmenza kommt auch. später legen triple trouble (ex glitz team) und was ever auf. verdammt scharfe sache. hosen runter! überfall!

wie geil nur das zu posten und keine wort über die arbeit zu verlieren. aber das gibst ja dann alles ganz schlau vorgetragen und verpackt in der präsentation zu belauschen.

mirko does a screening of short films by (mostly formerly) students from bauhaus university weimar at thalia theater in potsdam, connected to the question "is there a weimar school?". well, i´m not sure, but probably you can tell me afterwards. anyway my flick will be screened there too. it´s going to be a "vorpremiere" (pre-premier?). and all of the other chosen films are really good. so come over. i still have some free guestlist places. write me a mail if you want to come. here´s the (german) presstext and the other films to be showed:

Sie studieren Mediengestaltung, Visuelle Kommunikation, Kunst im öffentlichen Raum oder Architektur. Sie machen Filme. Ob und wie sich das Leben in der Provinz- und Kulturstadt Weimar in den bewegten Bildern dortiger Filmemacher/innen wieder findet, welche ästhetische oder inhaltliche Verbindung zwischen den Arbeiten besteht, versucht ein aktuelles Kurzfilmprogramm zu erkunden. Die nicht repräsentative Auswahl versammelt Abschlussfilme und freie Arbeiten, Festivalerfolge und Premieren von Studenten und Ex-Studenten verschiedener Fakultäten und Jahrgänge der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

as you might know anton corbijn is working on his first feature film control, a profile of ian curtis, genius leadsinger of joy division. the film is going to be based on deborah curtis´book "touching from a distance".
i just read that the cast is offical and i honestly have to confess being quite confused. ian curtis is performed by sam riley. and deborah curtis by samantha morton, who i think is great. but annik honoré, ian curtis lover, he´d a quite destructive affair with, is going to played by alexandra maria lara. ....hmmmm??? but well, she just shot youth by youth, by francis ford coppola.
anyway. i´m sure anton corbijn won´t mess, as his own history is very related to the band. and i´m exited. closer was the second record i bought with my own money as a teen. and i still think that love will tear us appart is ... i still think it´s the greatest popsong to be written.

my class is over and it was great. the students are so much smarter and unadolsecent for their age. long and loud discussions about columbian cinema. sometimes droped lines to disturb a bit their ideas of world: don´t you think, that probably the ideology of christian love won´t save us at the end? silence. just some gulps to hear. me smiling.
i saw "sumas y restas" victor gaviria latest work who just won award for best south american film at mexico film festival. it´s filmed with laymen actors and he did a great direction. it´s dealing about the middle class in the 90s corrupted by the cocaintraffic. and it´s great but ... i was expecting something more specific. a more specific ... wahrscheinlich etwas spezifischeres kolumbianisches. aber ich denke ich liege falsch. sumas y restas thematisiert die einfachheit der korrumpierbarkeit des absteigenden mittelstandes in der ökonomischen krise in den 90ern. die einfachheit des einstiegs in den florierenden ökonomischen zweig des kokainhandels während alles andere den bach runter geht. warum ich meine falsch zu liegen ist, weil ich glaube gemerkt zu haben bisher generell eine erwartung an den kolumbianischen film gerichtet zu haben, die von aussen kam. eine erwartung die den blick auf kolumbien ändert bzw ein kino als reflektion und informstionsmedium. das ist in sofern falsch, als dass meine erwartung eine von aussen gerichtete ist, dass kolumbiansiche kino in erster linie aber ein kino nach innen gerichtet sein sollte. in all meinen gesprächen und diskussionen war ich relativ überrascht wie unzufrieden die leute mit "maria voll der gnade", la vendedora, la sierra, usw. also dem kritischen kolumbianischen kino waren. zum einen weil sie die thematik des kokainschmuggels leid sind und eben jenes nicht mehr das gravierenste politische problem ist bzw. es das klischee des bildes im ausladens sowie der grund für die amerikanische repression ist. darüber hinaus war es aber eher eine reaktion der unzufriendenheit und der angst wie eben kolumbien im ausland dargestellt wird. ich meinte, dass doch eben die aufgabe des kinos sei die welt bzw die situation zu reflektieren und das in der momentanen politischen situation doch weder hoffnung geschweige den lösungsansätze in sicht seien. wenn es aber mit eine möglichkeit des kinos ist an die eigene existenz zu erinnern, so ist es wie hier - wo sich die politische realität mit der indivduellen realität derartig deckt oder unmittelbar beinflusst weniger von bedarf. das bedürfnis an das kino ist eben jenes dessen es bedarf. für sich nach innen. und hier mehr als sonst: kino als ort der hoffnung. kino das hoffnung, gegenfalls trost spendet. die schönheit und das wundervolle kolumbiens in der politischen situation zeigt. was ist, wird gewusst, muss hier niemanden mehr erzählt werden. es verleitet mich in pathetischer rührung zu sagen: hier gibt es so viel liebe. so viel wunderbares. so viel großartiges. ja ja ja ja ja. wohl auch so sollte das kino sein. nach innen.
das mal eben so ohne korrektur zu lesen oder noch mal drüber nachzudenken runtergeschrieben.
im übrigen ist la sierra mit der beste dokumtarfilm den ich seit langem gesehen hab. hab in mir gekauft. wir sollten in weimar oder berlin schnurstracks ein screening machen.

it´s all blooming mt heart attack by liars

by the way, i already posted about the greatness of liars´ drums not dead. if you haven´t bought it yet, it´s never to late to effort and to try to get a good and sophisticated taste in music. and if its not working out, it may work out in making out. as a great artwork standing in your desk impressing overcoming visitors.

my dad found marcela on the streets of naranjal. we filmed today. quiet sad. and tough. she was totally fucked up again. you wouldn't recognized her, though she looked so great a week ago when she still was clean. she was all on crack. like all the kids on the street in naranjal. crack is just 1000 pesos, so everzbody does after starting with glue . i have to confess having no idea or not remembering that clearly how crackheads really look or act like. the toughest is to see the little kids. like john davi, this very handsome 8 year old boy, that reminded me by it's cute androgynic face in my flatmate marcel. every move he does seems like out of control, too fast, like on a time warp effect, like a spastic. ununderstandable mumbling. totally freaky, flipping his eyes.
same marcela. i tried to film, running an interview. while speaking she starts to cry, nearly having a nervous breakdown. and me just sitting in front of hear, not beeing able to nearly understand a word of what she's saying. then in between a sentence - from one secdond to another - she just felt back and to sleep.
we filmed at gorras place. a cambuche under a bridge. gorras is her ex boyfriend. my father filmed here before. they know each other, for years now.
gorras is very friendly and very nice. 24 years old. from the street. he is into security now. that means if somebody fucks around in this barrio, he's takng care of it. you can imagine what that means. i really wanted to ask him, but didn't dare, cause we're at his place and he's so friendly, how many people he'd alreadz killed. but actually i guess i didn't wanted to know. it must have been a lot.
later sor sara told me once he killed 14 people in one year. but that was a couple of years ago. at the beginning of his career.

kleiner tv tip. arte zeigt heute nacht vom 05. auf den 06.09. "durch die nacht mit jörg buttgereit und bruce labruce" um 0.30 uhr.
was für eine große kombination! buttgereit, filmemacher immer zwischen splatter- und kunstfilm, hörspielregisseur, filmkritiker und autor (u.a. "monster aus japan greifen an. godzilla, gamera und co."). kurzum ein tausendsassa. und bruce labruce regisseur und künstler, ikone des schwulenkinos, nennen wir´s mal "agit pornograph".
also ich freu mich!

Currently I´m listening over and over again to latest liars record drum´s not dead. If you don´t know or got it yet, buy it, don´t download it. It´s worth. Not only cause of the great graphic design (I have to confess not liking it in the beginning, but loving it now), which is a visual augenschmaus related to mexican technoflyers (Designed by band member Julian Gross, who did also most of the yeah yeah yeahs designs). It also contains a dvd with 3 videoclips for each song (equals 36) directed by band members Angus Andrews, Julian Gross and by formerly Bauhaus student, award winning filmmaker and glitz dj Markus Wambsganss. Also Markus´ clip for liars´ “the other side of mount heart attack” was in my eyes one of the greatest clips in 2005.
There´s so much to write about liars´ work and transformation from hippest dance post punk to avantgard experimental whatever, about consistently being inconsistent and surprise expectations with innovations beyond hype. It´s a record to listen over and over again to get used to and to discover all hidden elements making you wow. But better read the pitchfork review. Or check out liarsliarsliars.com or their myspace site to listen to their tunes. Meantime on my trip through Columbia i´m looking forward meeting some indios, playing them this record to see what happens.

so, squirrrrrl was over and we spended the last three days watching the whole last season of six feet under. boy, all i can say is .... wow! ... fuck! ... wow! stunning. speachless. still mindfucked. claire fisher, i love you. honestly, i can´t imagine any better tv series ever.

ok something about going out. tonight is the dark side of the broken hearts club. the broken hearts club is an awesome monthly thrown party of people playing there favourite love songs. regularly it´s thrown at this kinky thai whorehouse called my thai, but tonights it´s taking place at this goth bar called last cathedral on schoenhauser allee next to white trash. come over.



while spinning, mrks and me are becoming more and more like an old couple. so it doesn´t happen that often that markus puts on a song making me "wow, what is this?!" but so he did last time, by spinning mek obaam. mek obaam is a berlin based singer songwriter sounding somehow folk. somehow beatles. i don´t know. but it´s awesome and he´ll play kaffee burger tomorrow, friday 28th and i highly recomend it. check out his myspace site or his regular site and listen to different universes on the player.

and if you still don´t feel like going out in the sun, the trailer for michel gondry´s last flick the science of sleep is online, starring gael garcia bernal and charlotte gainsbourg. i saw it at last berlinale film festival. it´s wonderful.
and finally a documentary about an issue that had to be done someday is going to be screened. let´s see if hardcore will finally go mainstream in the second half of this decade or is still being stucked as it was last. watch the trailer for american hardcore by paul rachman.
